Weather Image: Rising Thunderheads. High Sierra Hazard!

Weather Image: Thunderheads and potential lightening storm forming up as afternoon peak approaches.

Potential thunderheads forming up a lightening storm for later in the afternoon.

An ancient Greek seeing the power forming-up above would be smart enough to think that Zeus is coming for his ass with lightening bolts...  and take cover as the anger grows...

 Use Great Caution

Watch these Bad Boys carefully!

Heading South on the Pacific Crest Trail we have an exposed crossing coming up. When we climb South out of the East Carson Headwaters we will have about 5 miles of high elevation exposed travel as we cross the exposed flank of Sonora Peak to reach Sonora Pass.

To the North we face the exposed crossing of Tyron Peak.

Crossing these exposed sections is going to be highly unadvisable if these thunder clouds continue to mass up, deepen, and build strength as we approach our high exposed crossing.

If the clouds consolidate into a thunder storm we will make camp in a safe position rather than attempting our exposed crossing in extremely dangerous lightening conditions.

Observe. Engage. Anticipate. Act.
