Weather Image: Palasides submerged under heavy clouds, Kings Canyon NP, John Muir Trail just North of Mather Pass and South of the Palisades Lakes.

Heavy tropical moisture covering the Palisades just North of Mather Pass on the John Muir Trail.

These clouds of tropical moisture blown up from the South Pacific were spewing grappuel, cold rain, and hail while expressing sheet lightening between convection cells, blowing some pretty fierce gusts of wind while driving the temps down to 24 degrees during an August day.

I camped, set up my tent, and marvelled as half the tent froze up while the other half remained wet. I did not get a picture of my frozen-soaked tent, but I did take a picture of my frozen-saturated backpack.

Frozen rain, hail, snow, grappule and rain resulted in a frozen-saturated pack.
